A parasailing boat operator has been fined after hitting another boat Friday on Okanagan Lake.

The parasailing vessel was towing two people in the air when the accident occurred shortly before 8pm.

RCMP say the boat operator did not see the boat nor the one it was tied to in the middle of the lake. The parasailing boat swiped one as it drove by.

Following the collision, one of the boat occupants allegedly threw a beer bottle at the parasailing boat, striking one passenger and injuring another, an 11-year-old girl.

The airborne bottle injured the girl’s face, requiring treatment in hospital.

RCMP fined the parasailing boat operator for careless operation of a vessel, which includes a $288 fine.

The beer bottle incident is under investigation.
