A Penticton teen has been sentenced for stabbing a man to death about three years ago.

The killing happened in a late night fight at a beach front park.

A 27-year-old Ontario man died in the altercation.

A second man was also stabbed but he survived.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with murder and aggravated assault but eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter

He has received a youth sentence of three years intensive rehabilitative custody.

The judge says it is the “one and only chance” to reform the young offender.

The victim’s family wanted the now 19-year-old to be sentenced as an adult and receive a longer prison term.
