Emergency crews were called to Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park Saturday night after receiving a call about a hiker in distress.

About two hours after getting the initial call, crews managed to locate the 43-year-old man and transport him to hospital.

The man was on a hike with his wife when police say he suffered chest pains.

The chopper, which had been patrolling the Canada Day weekend festivities, was able to pinpoint the hiker’s exact location.

Paramedics and fire crews then sprung into action, borrowing ATVs to access the trail that led to the hiker.

The man was taken to hospital and is believed to be in good condition.
