Police are on the scene after a body was discovered in Penticton.
RCMP have set up an investigation area near Highway 97 adjacent to the river channel.
The body was discovered around 8 p.m. Thursday by a man who pulled over on the highway to make a phone call.
It was found in a water filled road side ditch in an area known for transient camps but it is not known if the victim was associated with the camp.
A tent has been set up and investigators can be seen combing through brush beside the highway.
Police do not know if foul play was involved but they are treating it as such until further investigation.
The victim has been identified as a male in his mid to late 40s.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday to determine the man's identity and cause of death.
