Cort Smith grew up in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
After two years at the U of A, he moved to the Northern Alberta Institute of
Technology where he completed his Radio and Television Arts Diploma in 2000. His
first TV gig came in the “Border Town”, of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan where he
was a news Reporter and Anchor for CKSA Television.
Next, it was back to
Edmonton where he was a produced and wrote for a variety of shows at Global
Television. But beautiful BC beckoned, and after a few years he was hired to
produce The Morning News at Global BC in Vancouver. Working with Anchors Lynn
Colliar and Steve Darling was a great experience - 2:30am wake up calls were
not. Four bleary-eyed years later, Cort was keen to get back to storytelling,
and happily moved to the North Okanagan to man the Vernon Bureau.
Cort is an avid musician and overall music lover.
He played in a rock band in Edmonton for several years, as a singer and
guitarist. He also loves to read and travel, having had the chance to explore
Mexico, Europe and Southeast Asia for extended periods.
